Corsa MOT failure dilema

Sorry if this is in the wromg section, it is technicla.

My girlfriends sisters Corsa has just failed it's MOT miserably on various points, the most concerning of which would be the emissions. I have'nt seen the fail sheet but the HC's were massive by all accounts.
The car is an N reg 1.2 Merit I believe and is on 129k with sound bodywork. She originally wanted £250 but I think I have convinced her it is worth nothing without an MOT and have thrown a figure of £100 into the equation.

My dilema is that I can have a 98 S Corsa Sport with the 1.4 16v engine for £200. This has done 70k and comes with Astra Dan special Cesaro wheels. It was rear ended into a tree at 60 mph so the rear is a gonner but the front end is fine.

Do I:
A - Buy both, swap the engine etc and sell on? What would it be worth?
B - Buy both and sell onto someone with a view for them to repair?
C - Buy both, strip the 1.2 and fit the Sport engine for a little fun.

Suggestions guys?

Good addition there. My thoughts were that for less than £400 I could have a little toy as the 14XE engines are mighty tuneable.

Or I could make a little profit, or could I?

why not fire over to the corsa sport forum? im sure you could get some crazy ideas over there... c20 let anyone (2.0 turbo)

easy Len, not spoke to you in ageeeeeeeeess and that was on mig.

Go back there talk to them.punt it to them.

Otherwise drop that 14 into the duff 1.2 and sort out the induction on it.

I'll post on there, cheers mate.

I thought you guys may be able to give me a less blinkered view. I mean that in the sense that Corsasport members will all say 'Yes, do it, Corsa's are mint', though Cliosport members will probably all say they are crap, which they are. LOL

I'd love a C20LET Nova but costs are a limiting factor. It's more a case of make do and mend if you will.

Evening bud. I remember that little chat we had, that was just after I got the 172. You brought a tear to my eye with your comments, you heartless swine ;) . Although your expertise was much appreciated.

I've stuck a post up on MIG, just seeing what the wider audience thinks.

Though you are very right in saying to sort the induction out on the 14XE, they sound fantastic with a little fettling.

aye might sound better but the fact you can get 140bhp out of it has nothing to do with it eh!

The C16 can make stock XE20 power relatively easily. The induction route is 6 foot long and has loads of 90 degrees bends, thats why the mantzel power boxes etc give a straight 20 BHP out the box.

Corsas are crap, but so are clios mate, I am biased neither way! lol

If the shell is sound on the failed one and you have all the gear on the othe rone, I'd go for it, it won't take you long mate.

I reckon its the best thign to do as tryign to sell both togeter will be hard, sellign each seperate won't be easy and breaking them will leave dead cars lying abotu for ages.

Once again, wise words.
