Could this be rigtt regarding engine managment light

Hi i went to look at a 182 today, the car seemed really nice apart from two things the serv indictor light was on and so was the engine management light, now the guy selling told me he had taken the car in part exchange and the previous owner had replaced the orginal air filter with a k & n filter, is it possible this could cause the engine management light to be on ?

I understand that serv one means a service due.

No, and No.

Engine management is likely to be a lambda plug down. Thats £70 straight off.

Serv light means airbag usually. Put ignition on before starting, look for airbag light on left hand side. If this goes on and then goes out there s an issue

That's just bullshit?

The engine management light tells you that a fault has been detected in the system and you'll need to plug it in to a code reader to find out what it is. There's no point in speculating to what it could or most likely is until you plug it in.

For the common "wires under the passenger seat" airbag problem, both the Serv and Airbag light would be on the dash constant. Turning the ignition on and the airbag light coming on then going out says there is no problem with the airbag system.

I meant as a start you melt.

He also didnt say it was chugging its tits off, so assumed no missfire/injector issue

  Sport Clio 182 cup
hello hun :) when i brought my clio 182 cup it had a cone air filter on it and when i was stationary behind a running car my engine management light would flash so we put the standard 172 air box in it and then the light flashing has since stopped.... hoped that helps xx
