Clio 182 BG
Hi all,
I sold my 182 a couple of years ago to live the hairdresser life (mk2.5 mx5 phoenix, slid on roundabouts but was generally a shed)
However I saw a facebook advert at the weekend and now... I'm the proud owner of a BG 182 FF, exactly the same spec as the one I used to have ?
It needs some TLC. There's a whole host of warning lights on the dash but I'm hoping it's just a ABS ring and the discs need doing anyway all round. It needs a new steering wheel and the cruise control has been deactivated when the wheel was taken out previously so that needs exploring too. The exhaust is blowing really badly and I felt bit of a tit in traffic lights through Oxford on the way back from buying it but hoping some sealant and a new clamp will solve that, and the previous owner put spacers on which rub INCREDIBLY badly so I will take them off ASAP.
All in all, a tidy car for the money and I can't wait to do some work on it and get back on the road properly.
Any advice would be good though regarding the belts/water pump (shock). The timing belt and water pump were done, with receipt, 5 years ago, however the car has only done 20,000 miles since then. I know the sensible thing would be to get them changed now but realistically the belt is well within it's mileage lifetime. The car was sat SORN for a couple of years while the previous owner was at uni. If it was 50k and 5 years I would definitely get it changed but does anyone have experience with belts with these conditions?
Thanks all, it's good to be back!
