Couple of gearbox questions

  RB 182 + Cup pack
So the thing is that when I change gear at high'ish revs from 1[SUP]st [/SUP]to 2[SUP]nd [/SUP]it will struggle to go in to gear, usually ending up in it being half in half out and grinding a lot. Other times there will just be a crunch noise as it goes in and the crunch sometimes happens between 2[SUP]nd [/SUP]and 3[SUP]rd [/SUP]But not as bad/loud. Is this my synchromesh starting to go? If so is it worth trying to fix the synchromesh or is it more cost affective to replace the gearbox? Or is it something completely different?
Thanks

It could just be the linkage underneath the car that needs adjusting. Worth trying first!

If u jack the car up and look under where the gear lever would be inside, there will be a rod going to the front of the car, to the bottom of the gearbox.
There is 1 bolt that connects the 2 parts together....its basically a bit of trial and error of adjusting it by small amounts and nipping the bolt back up and trying the gears inside the car until they all slot in smoothly. Be sure to check 5th and reverse.

Make sure you put a couple of marks where the 2 parts of the rod split as a reference so that if you mess it up and can't get the gears you can go back to its original position.
