Couple tyre questions

  LY 182
Hey guys,

Just been checking my tyres as my front's are getting really close to needing replacing. I have PE2's and the rear's look really healthy.

I just noticed that the rear's are 83 V and the front's 83 W. Is this normal??

In terms of replacements, should I just get another 2 PE2's at the front? I was considering the Hankook V12 Evos all round but if I have 2 decent PE2's at the back that could be a waste of money in a way.

Just fire 2 identical ones on the front no?

Warren (Brown Bear) Rates the hankooks highly, considering trying them when I need tyres.

Running healthy F1's just now.

Yeah I suppose if I only need 2x PE2's it's cheaper than 4x V12's. Do I need 83V or 83W or does it not matter? Was a bit unsure why I had 83V at the rear and 83W at the front.

V/W is the speed rating, no? It's the numner (91 for example) that is the load rating. Don't really think it makes any difference that it's V and W. As long as it's not below what the manufacturer originally puts on.

If it aint broke dont fix it, i was looking at changing brands but theres no real need if you have had no problem.

Always have the 4 same tyres all round. Not so much speed rating but the type of tyre imo has to be the same.

Mix matching = ditch finding!

Haha yes I know what you mean.

I'll order a couple of 83V PE2's then I'm running the same all around. Simples.

Lol what a load of crap if both are decent tyres..... Having PE2's on the front or back and V12's the other would be perfectly fine.
Ditch findig, my arse....

I don't agree with the mismatching statement at all.
I've got PE2's on the rear and P Zero Nero's on the front at the minute. The P Zero's were originally on the back, but I put them on the front to wear them down quicker so all 4 tyres can match. The PE2's were new a month ago. The car doesn't feel any different in the wet or dry, and certainly doesn't have any less grip whichever of the tyres are on the front.

Just don't mix and match tyres on the same axle. I had to put my spare on once - an Eagle F1 and a Contenental something or another on the back don't go well together.
