cracked sump?!

hi folks, done a search and cant find anything the same as this....

basically my sump is cracked, a small hair line crack on the left hand side of the sump if your looking from the front of the car. it looses oil only when hot(oil thinner i take it when hot so starts to leak?) ts not a huge problem but i just cant understand how it happened?? the car is lower but i aint hit anything, and its on the side rather than the front where you would expect it!

so anyone have any theories? common problem or just bad luck?

have you jacked the car up using a jack directly on the sump?

Get it welded up

no definately not, im not too bad with the spanners so would never be doing that

think im just goin to get myself a new sump, keep this one for spare just in case! renualt the best place to go for a sump?

about £180 for a new one from memory, try R20 CHW he might have one
