Crackling tweeters :(

Tweeters have started making crackling noise every now and then, so think it might be an idea to replace them.

I'm not sure what I should be replacing with and have heard that getting uprated ones will require crossovers/something like that to stop them blowing? Can anyone shed any more light to a noob??!

the tweeters have the crossovers built into them

when you fit aftermarket ones they will have external units you will need to wire in

if it was me i would buy a set of 5.25 components the speakers will be a straight fit but the tweeters may require you having to remove the cover from the dash and you probs can fit them there the crossover its self ideally has to be as close to the amp as you can get it you can use the existing wiring but i wouldn't recommend it as it requires you to cut up the wiring loom so i would drill a small hole near the factory loom were it goes into the car and i would pierce a hole into the rubber grommet in the door

if you are just using a headunit to power it try and find a low rms component set and you will need to locate the speaker wires coming from your headunit to wire in the crossover but again i would recommend buying an amplifier so you can leave the factory wiring as it is rather then cutting it up
