Crank Angle Sensor?

what is its use on the clio ? as if its what im thinking, then it could be a problem to the sometime starting problems!

Am i right when i say, it senses the pistons (moving on briefly) then it tell the ecu where about they are, then it fires up! but if it was faulty... the pistons would be moving the same way? and not one after another ... or summate like that?!

If im totally wrong.. appologies... ive treid to explain it clearly lol!

you're sort of on the right lines there, in a very simple explanation, it basically counts the teeth on the flywheel, 1 tooth is missing so the signal goes to the ecu and it knows at what position the crank and hence the pistons are in and hence can fire the plugs

no crank signal = no spark

Yep. TDC Sensor.

If it's faulty, the engine will just crank, since the ECU can't take it's timing off the sensor.

but if this happens now and again? usually when cold starts.. or just when it likes.. it could be a fault on the crank sensor???

Im a bit worried as im hopeing its NOT my ECU....

Got a mechanic to come and plug it into to diagnostics next week for free, to see if anything has being logged!

So what ive told you guys.. do you recon it is the crank??? *Fingers crossed*

very common on them, won't be the ecu

probably needs the new loom piece + new sensor
