Crank seal fitting

Quick one, crank seal (cambelt side) re fitting, I didn't take the old one out, and dont have the official tool, do they sit flush to the block like the cam seals (head) or is there a small recess to discount any contact with the cambelt pulley?

Tried to find a similar question but failed.
