Crashed my Clio

To cut a very long story short... I was being followed by some maniac who was trying to stop my car, so I panicked and ended up trying to swerve to lose him but went straight into another car and then into a post at about 40mph. I'll never know why but for some reason there wasn't a mark on me, I'm just aching. I ended up going to hospital and having a few x-rays but I was out in no time. The two people in the other car were fine too, just a bit shocked. And to top it off the car will soon be written off.

Now I've got to worry about getting points on my license for "careless driving", although I can't see how that's fair when if I didn't have a nutter trying to hunt me down I wouldn't have been driving carelessly. My insurance will obviously go up and it might go up so much that I can't afford it. And then the insurance company might not even pay up because I forgot to mention the fact that I tinted the windows.

I'm not a bad person and I'm not involved in any trouble and I'm not a boy-racer. It was just a major misunderstanding that went very very wrong. Still in shock.

It happens, welcome to the real world!

Unlucky though :( , and its good that your ok though! ;)
Iv been chased a few times and had a few close encounters, just got to watch yourself.

Unlucky. Sometimes it's just easier to stop and face up to the person, instead of putting other innocent people at risk.

The car can be replaced... its just transport at the end of the day. Chin up, move on and put it down to experience :)

You might just have to do a safety course thing instead of having a careless driving conviction.

Although driving like a madman and crashing into someone else sounds more like dangerous driving to me..

I was at my mates house, she's a girl. Her dad doesn't like her having her mates round. She rang him to see what time he would be home from work, and he said he was outside of the house. So we panicked and I knew I could get out the back way. So I went into the garden, hopped over the fence into the next door neighbour's garden, and then over his fence into the ally way. The neighbour saw me jumping his fence and decided to chase me at 60mph.

Well your a tit arent you. Should have explained to him.

Most people on here would chase you if they thought there was a thief in their back garden!

Or a young lad at home with their daughter that they said couldn't be there!

Well at the time I didn't know it was the neighbour, it could have been anyone, so I wasn't going to get out and invite him to the local cafe for a cup of tea.

If I don't get any points and the insurance pays out it won't be that bad. So fingers crossed. Apparently I'd get more than what I payed for the car too.

What did the Police say at the scene?

Nothing really because at the time they just thought it was an accident, but then the paramedic heard me telling my mom I was being chased so she asked me if I wanted to tell the police so I did. They are coming to see me at "a later date", which must be a good thing, right? Cause if it was important they'd have come straight away?

Nah the car's been taken away, don't think I'll see it again. It hit the back of the driver's side and the rear of the car. So a few seconds here and there and it would have probably hit right where I was sitting.

Just had a re think about this.

You need to be banned. If some little cnut crashed into me, crying he'd being chased by a big scary monster, id kill you! And probs your family too!

Gutted dude. Although you've just admitted you have window tints that are not declared, and lets face it, the insurance people are going to notice that straight away and not pay out...

Hope eveything works out for you though buddy, although I feel bad about the people you hit, you should of just pulled over, or called the police or driven to a police station or a public area :(

Lol thats the stupidest story i've ever heard. Running away from her dad ok, but trying to outrun a nieghboor in a car just seems stupid.

All you had to do was stop, tell him whats gone on and drive off. He obviously caught you anyway because you crashed.

Epic fail imo.

If anyone should be banned it's the t**t that decided to aggressively follow me. He was flashing his lights, pipping the horn, coming at the side of me, trying to get in front of me, getting right up behind the car, etc. He caused me to panic and caused me to crash. I wouldn't have crashed if he wasn't doing what he was doing.

And like I've said, at the time I didn't know it was the neighbour, so I couldn't explain because I had no idea what I needed to explain.

Why not drive to a local safe place, somewhere busy with lots of ppl? or police station? or call your parents? there is so many options.

But trying to out run him in want looks like a 1.2 is not the cleverest or safest.

You shouldnt have been in his garden, he has a right to be angry.

Hindsight is a great thing.

I shouldn't have been in his garden (for the REALLY short time that I was), but he shouldn't have decided to take the law into his own hands and aggressively follow me like he did. I would NEVER do what he did, even if someone was in my garden. I wouldn't have followed someone like he did. So who's the biggest danger on the road? Him for being capable of driving like that. I'm a safe driver, I drive at 30mph and people get annoyed with me and overtake me for driving so slow, but that's the law. I try to follow it.

That is a class story like :) ha ....I think the neighbour had every right to chase you, you were in his back garden! Could have bin thieving or whatever.

That said shame about the crash and glad your ok and the people in the other car.

Learn from this and jog on....

Well you crashed, not him.

Call it hindsight if you want, I think logic is more appropriate. You should have stopped/pulled over and not driven beyond your limit and you wouldn't have crashed.

As for the Police, they might be gathering evidence, I'm surprised they didn't charge you with anything at the scene.

What did the guy chasing you do once you'd crashed?
