Creaking Noise from 172

I have a MK2 172 which I have had for about 6 months now, its an absoulutly cracking car but I have noticed a creaking sound coming from it over the past few days.

The creak starts when you pull away, but it doesnt always do it and also when you are braking at low speeds. The creak is quite a low pitched one and sounds like its coming from around the drivers seat area but not inside the car.

Has any one else suffered this problem or know a cure as it is really, really annoying?!!

It is something to do with the engine mounts mate, I experienced it on my cup - You need to take it to Renault to get them to change them. It is just because the engine in these cars rocks alot on the mounts - You can just leave it, but would take it in for peace of min as your still in warranty anyway!

I get a creak from the rear, maybe the tail gate??

Which engine mounts are these and will it mean taking the whole engine out??

Also Ive had the car 6 months but it was 6 months old when I bought it, will the replacement of these engine mounts be covered under the warranty now that the first year part of it has gone??

Yes mate definately, I left mine for ages before I had it done, and they dont have to remove the engine, May not be engine mounts But is definately some mount in there. They will know what it is as it is a known fault, Took them a day to do mine with some other stuff too!

Nice one Ive just booked it in at Renault Manchester for next Friday for the day.

Did the dealer find the fault on your car then, or did you gve them an idea as to what it was???

I took one of the mechanics out for a drive in my car and showed him (made him listen) to the noise. It is the mounts which stop the engine rocking too much (i think)

I wont be able to stop with my car because of working, so it looks like Im best giving them a call about it to give them an idea.
