Creamy stuff under gear gaiter

Iv took a picture, not sure if its a fault or anything but it does look wrong

Yeh but why is it on the plastic bit :S and whys there that much all clumped to gether.

It wasn't their the other day as my gear thing as been broke for ages

my vectra has the same stuff on the gear shaft
think its some kind of lube

had the same in mine when i pulled the gaiter off by mistake!

Its probably a silicon/telfon grease being that colour, its to lube the ball up on the shifter and believe me you'd know if it wasn't there.

Lithium Grease perhaps??
Used for lubrication of parts to stop dust and water getting in.. IIRC
It's probably clumped together because of dirt/dust.
