Cross Threaded Sparkplug

Sister just sold her Clio, but new owner has come back saying they have found one of spark plugs has cross threaded and are kicking off.

What's the solution to this, i understand the head might have to come off to re-tap the hole? What kind of cost is involved in this?

She made the mistake of selling to a friend though!

I've told her to sacrifice the friendship for the cash

Has anybody got any idea how much it should cost to fix though? Garage say worse case scenario to take head off and re-tap is 500? surely you could pick up re-conditioned 1.2 engine for that!

there is no way for her to know this though.

I still say sold as seem, tough s**t.

They even went and put new brakes all around knowing about this problem, even put Renault one on, paid over £300 and now wants my sis to take the car back and pay for the breaks!

Isn't there a chance of crap getting into the engine if you do this without taking the head off? It's a 1.2 16v

tell them to duck off tbh, when were the spark plugs changed last? or have they changed them, if the later then its theyre problem

if your feeling generous pay for the sparkplug problem but do not pay for the brakes!!! not your problem there

1) How whould she know there was a problem.

2) They were likely last changed by a garage in which case tell her "friends" to take it up with them!

i had my old 106gti helicoiled in situ, think it ws about £50ish

they insert an airbag i think into the top of the cylinder and inflate it, then insert the new sleeve and thread and then blast all the s**t out with compressed air i think and then remove the airbag from the sylinder, plug back in and jobs a good un.

i cant be exact on the price as i had it done with some other work but i know i remember thinking it was good value for money.

tbh sounds like they have done it though and whoever did the plugs for the new owner as a favour has made a mistake and wont admit it and blames previous owner.
