Crunchy 3rd valver

  ValverInBits
My 16v crunches into 3rd every time.
I can stop it by matching the revs exactly on the way into 3rd (it's been good for practicing my heel-toe).
I've just replaced a worn dogbone on saturday with a brand new one
The car doesent crunch in any other gear - and yes i can use a clutch lol.

any suggestions

also, does anyone know of any performance dogbones available for 16v? these stock parts are soft as.

worn/fuked syncro in the box. best bet is to put a recon box in it or get yours rebuilt. not sure if you can just change the fuked syncro in the box or not, im not up on gearboxes

Adjust the clutch bite to 1cm below what it is now and change the box oil, worked when i had mine, mine was crunching second.

Could you have knocked the gear linkage when you were changing the Dog bone, that could also be the fault.

Doesn't sound like a gearbox problem to me.

no, it was doing it before the dog bone change.
I'll definitely bring the clutch cable in a bit and do the oil though.
Thanks for your help.

yep worth a try but sounds like a syncro, think my 3rd gear 1 is on its way out.

syncro matches the speed when changing to eliminate the need for double clutching as far as im aware which would explain why it doesnt do it when you match the revs
