Cleaned. The clean unveiled it has been keyed down one panel. Nothing a polish can't sort though @Scrooge :) x

I've already text him to say we'll definitely have it. And I won't be selling it on...not until it has moon miles and to a non-CSER. I don't like the risk of things going wrong with someone I know...
I don't blame you, mind you - no f**ker on here would step up, they'd say it, but when it came to it they wouldn't.

Where's spudgun ? This man knows.

Right, mixed bag last night. It drove lovely. Smooth, refined and good power. Just what we want and the wife loves it.

However, Sat Nav started playing up. As in it froze / radio stopped playing. Go over a bump and it starts again. Heavy whirring sound from the DVD drive. After some googling it seems it is the signs of the DVD drive failing and they aren't cheap to replace.

Some more googling says the DVD drive should be replaced under the extended BMW warranty. Any one have any experience of this?

As I said, the current owner is taking it in for a final service on Jan 6th, and I've spoken to him about the DVD this morning and he is going to ask them to replace under warranty. What do we think the likelihood would be? @Daniel

I thought the BMW extended warranties were top notch, and I also thought with him being a new M5 customer they'd want to do everything they can to make him happy....

  330i. E30 Touring.
Yep, he needs to pull the loyal customer. Car's been brilliant up until now, but this is very annoying etc and my bet is they'll swap it straight away.

Dealer earns money from warranty work too. I'd get him to phone up in advance and explain the problem - see if they'll pre-order the part.

My satnav/dvd in mine made a whirring noise loads. Got louder the faster you'd go and on a hot day it was ridiculous.
I just sold it so unsure of the fix lol.

Yeah. That sounds like the route of choice. I'll get him to ring them.

They won't pre-order anything, it will need to be tested before they agree to anything.

The fact the car has one owner and has been looked after by the same dealer it's whole life swings massively in his favour.

Not to scare you but I have a friend that has had 10+ X5's all brand new from My place and all have been religiously serviced at the same dealer. He had 2 on order totalling £100,000 and in the meantime his partners one shat it's timing chain on the motorway totalling the engine, and the car was 3 months out of warranty. BMW refused to contribute a penny...

Cheers bud, that's why I'm pushing for it to be sorted in warranty. Once it's mine, I'll be having to sort it myself!

Let's hope they replace the unit under warranty, as other than that, it seems in great condition. :)

Looks great especially for that price! Love them wheels.

A mate picked up an e60 530d on 250k for a similar price lol.

Man that's a great price! I love the 330i se too, the wheels are fairly rare.

Pretty much the most reliable bm engine too. 3 litre 6 WITHOUT a turbo lol

I'm seriously considering a 330i m sport. What are they like on fuel? Seems to be a lot more to go wrong with a 330d, 330i is cheaper and sounds a million times better.

The only issues are the fuel consumption and lack of tuning(if you're into that sort of thing).

I'd have a 3 petrol over a diesel anyday

Day in day out, 25mpg. If anyone tells you any different their either lying or drive with the sole intention of saving fuel.

But petrol is cheap now so it doesn't really matter.

Cheers guys! Further good news today, BMW are fixing the idrive system under warranty. Whole new unit! Happy days. Rest of the service was done, and the inspection was fine with the exception of;

- Both rear anti roll bars have play, so they are getting replaced.
- One of the rear anti-wishbone top arms needs replacing as it has play. BMW have quoted a quite frankly ridiculous £780 to replace and re do the alignment. @Daniel - is that right?

So, I'll get that done at my local specialist I think, who have quoted me nearly half that

@Clart - I've run it over Christmas for about 700 miles, averaging high 20's / low 30's. But all i've driven is motorway at a steady 75/80. I've been using the micra still for short journeys, and i've haven't really been giving the Beemer the 'boot' as it wasn't mine until today.

I'm chuffed with it to be honest, so smooth and comfortable. Just what I needed.

Believe it or not it's a very similar rear suspension set up to a Range Rover. ie there are LOTS of adjusters!
That price doesn't surprise me given what BMW charge per hour and they'll only use genuine parts.

Cheers bud. BMW won't be servicing it in my ownership anyway, so I may as well start using my trusted independant. He is running a BMW E46 M3 in Britcar 24hr this year, so he is well accustomed to 'Ze Bavarians' :)

So, paid for this today

The dealer serviced it and replaced both rear ARBs at cost, but critically replaced the iDrive unit and the FRM
Module (had reverse light and side light failure) under warranty.

They say it needs new rear wishbones, but that can wait.

So, it's mine. And I love it. I'll move this thread to General Automotive Media and make it a project thread.

Plans are:

- Get it to @Scrooge for some paint love and a struggle cuddle from me.
- get J-tech to do the wishbones and alignment (unless we think it's a job we're capable of?)
- new tyres
- plod around in it for some time.
