whats the liklihood of me gettin insured on a cup ? 18 wiv 1 years NCB
Highly unlikely...

Try an online quote from http://www.directline.comwww.directline.com or http://www.tesco.com/financewww.tesco.com/finance - they give pretty good online quotes and are always 2 of the cheapest for me. Itll give you a final idea of how much youd be looking at. I didnt know insurance companies would even let you go TPF&T on a car like that. In the past Ive been told that you have to go fully comp if the car is worth over £5k (perhaps that was just one company)

Youll get insured for sure.......just at what cost is the question. Personally I wouldnt even bother going for a new & fast car at your age. You may as well buy a car for a third of the price of a Cup that is just as quick/not far off and then at least youll have money to insure it with

Anyone tell me the differences between a cup and a 172 ? apart from the 2000+ and extras !
Cup has got:

Mondial Blue paintwork (now also in silver)
Lighter 16" Speedline Turinis
Larger rear spoiler
Front splitter
Revised supension
Revised steering setup
Revised brakes
Wider Track
Lighter by 89kg
Can now have Climate (air-con) as an option
Cup has not got:

Leather/alcantara seats
HID headlights
ABS
Rain sensing wipers
Auto lights
Spare wheel
Traction/ESP system

KDF

  Audi TT Stronic

Cup has not got:

* Leather/alcantara seats
* HID headlights
* ABS brakes
* Rain sensing wipers
* Auto lights
* Spare wheel
* Traction/ESP system
* Normal thickness glass
* Heat Reflective/Sound deadning windscreen
* Soundproofing undercarpet
* Engine Cover
* Drivers Lumbar adjustment
* Rear Headrests
* 3/4 Split folding rear seats
* Climate control with air-con AS STANDARD !
* 4 airbags

Sorry Rich, looks like you missed some small things, oh and

revised suspension ? you mean 3mm lower ?
revised brakes ? you mean they took out the abs ?
wider track ? you mean higher offset alloys ?

:D

get a second hand mk1 (in blue,best colour) take the drivers manual out of the glove box to get similar weight to the cup and the weight/performance diff is virtually zero,+ save yourself £1000s,if you have a puncture you can actually fit another wheel!!!,if any one needs a lift in the back theres a seat not a vinly plank,you can put 6 cds in at once,if its wet in an emergency you can steer and brake,err on the motorway you wont go deaf from no sound insulation,better head lights,.........

if you want a car that looks the dogs nadgers(which it does),out corners/handles far more expensive cars,still does 35mpg etc,,,,

get a cup!!!!! if only i didnt do 20000 motorway miles,and have a moaning wife! id have one over my mk1 in a flash,,;)

KDF_ if you ever want to meet up ill show you the difference the "3mm" lower suspension makes!!!!!

Yes, every millimetre counts you know, or at least thats what I keep telling the mrs. And the camber angle is different on the cup, hence all the problems us cup owners have which you 172 owners dont.

hardly (we have both, i know) ;)

  CTR EK9 turbo

only thing id be wary of is spare wheel. Are those "spray-in gloop" things safe to do 100+ when its in the tyre? ive had a few flat tyres (for some reason on this car! gol dang it) and had to change the wheel loads at the side of the road. Maybe i should stop driving through nail farms....:confused:

Cups and 172 comes standard with

4000rpm rattle

Dashboard rattle

Exhaust knocking on full lock

Crap renault service

:cry:

so cup only comes in blue ? is lighter, faster but wivout all the mod cons ! dont like the sound of no ABS ! will the insurance be the same for both ?

What problems?

Is it just the springs that are shorter and shox uprated, or is it a completely different strut with a different camber setting??

(Reno dont offer the Cup here in Sweden...)

Its the same spring/strut.

The change in CASTOR, which is why all the cup owners rave about increased response and turn in, what has moved the car 3mm down, and 3mm.......its really doesnt make a diff.........sheesh.

camber is virtually non existent on both anyway.

As for all this dont need it stuff..........if your a dont need it sorta guy get a 1.6 caterham, faster, better MPG and just more fun. Dont need windscreen, back seats, boot, radio, winscreen, PAS, indicators that turn themselves off, assisted brakes, footwell only big enough for size 9 feet, composite seats, bumps and noisy as hell, you cup owners.............all girls. ;)

hehehe, nah, both good cars, but you wouldnt see any diff on the rd really.........but im sure cup owners will disagree...........aint that right?
