Cup details - are these true

Was informed by a friend of a guy who works part time at Williams, apparantly the Cup isnt just an unkitted 172, its got a different chasis, suspension set (I beleive that bit), I know its lightened with the glass etc but what about the rest? And he just made it sound like its a devoted race car rather than a lightened hatch.

What is the real story then?

it is just a lightend version but has different suspension geometry not much different really but makes a very nice difference to the handling

Same basic car, but weighs 89kg less due to the removal of certain luxury options, plus the Cup has altered suspension gemoery and different shocks & springs, so hes right, it aint just a 172 minus some toys.

wheelbase width is due to the cups wheels being a different offset, the ride height is 3mm lower then a std 172 and no the chassis is not strengthened

Catter angle has ben changed as well I belive. Also its 3mm lower although his aparently has something to do with the different caster angle.

The Cup looses to many toys in my opinion. The cup should have a spare wheel or at least a no cost optional extra.

But Renault have done well stripped a 172 down and selling it. The Clio production line must have been boosted and Renault didnt add anything significant to the Cup so there was little cost risk and little risk of a 172 owners being tempted by the cheaper Cup.

they also give all new cup owners a years subscription to weight watchers so they can loose a few pounds and give themselves another 0.0000000001 second advantage to 60 over us slow porky 172 owners ;)
