Cup Gearbox Knocking

Hi all,

Driving home on Sunday, when I noticed when going into 5th a knocking noise from the gearbox/exhaust. Only 5th gear is affected, any advice before i take it to the renault monkeys!
Sorry can some one move this to the mechanical section

you blown your box up yet Pete or still working on it ?

heatshield on linkage... lol I was about to type "let me guess - only 5th gear affected?"

This comes from hitting HUGE puddles/aka lakes, at high speed... oooooopsy!

Get under car - get someone else to move the gear lever into 5th, youll see where its catching and simply bend out of the way with your hand. 30 second job.

Nope and I STILL havent got round to getting underneath for a look either!

Gear linkage bent, new something or another under warranty. They have bent it back for now, but a new one is on order, exhaust, heatsheild all have to come off, he recons a 3 hour job. Glad I am not paying
