Cup needing new tyres

  Tappd'd RS

Hi,

Had my cup about 6 months and done about 7,500 miles, my front tyres seem really scubbed, and grip in the wet is really bad! Not too great off the mark in the dry either!

How soon have you replaced the front tyres and how much am I likely to pay for straight replacements to the contis?

Cheers. ;)

I replaced my virtually slick contis at about 6k miles... Cant remember how much Renault wanted for new ones but ended up buying some Toyos instead for about 50 a corner I think...

changed mine at 6000, put eagle f1s on which arent cheap but are amazing, no tramlining, less wheelspin, and have outlasted the orgi Contis...ill def be getting them again

ive done 8k and my fronts are fine, & i drive pretty darn quick! so how the fac do you wear the tyres out so fast, are you driving like starsky & hutch guys!?

Agree, Ive done nearly 13K and still have 3-4mm all round. I drive the car hard, what the hell are you guys driving like

By the way what are the the toyos like on the cup

a few track days !

  Weeman sucks ****

I changed mine at around 8000 miles. There was a bit of tread left but the car was tram-lining like a b**ch. Once replaced the car felt a lot different.

I used a local mobile guy from stevenage and he done them for £60 each, fitted.

  Nippy white cup

I need to change mine now as well ( nearly 7000miles) Only got it at end of June but have done a load of rwybs so thats probably what has caused it for me.

Just got a letter from Renault last night to say they will give me £200 + a set of tyres to make up for all the hassles Ive had with the Cup since taking delivery.

PZeros or Eagle F1s- or can anyone else advise whats best. Should I stick to the Contis?

Dootchy - Eagle F1s

may i just add, toyos in the wet are awful, slide everywhere (and that was in a 1.2 16v)

they are cheap, and their performance shows this

Dont get more Contis mate...

The Eagles are the b0ll0x, so Id go for them!

Ive done 4500miles and the front left corner is bald round the edges. need to try and make it last another 2k, cant justify newuns yet.

Cheers squire, much appreciated. These are what I will get. Handily anough my wee bro works in a carparts store, and is more than happy to do them @ trade for me, yet write them up on the receipt as full + VAT. - NICE as Reno want the receipts before coughing up.

If any of you have a fair bit of hassle with your new cup, may I recommend a strongly worded letter or 4 to Reno- worth the hassle

My fronts are being changed on satarday,10000 miles they are right on the legal limit. They could have done with being changed at 7000 though.

I wasnt particularly taken with the Toyos that my cup has been wearing recently...

Having said that, they have lasted as long as my Contis did, which I wasnt expecting!! Now that they need changing Ill definatly be splashing out the extra for the Eagle F1s...

No, they aint that bad, but there are better tyres out there, particaularly in the wet.

Ive had a few quick fwd cars now and Ive had various tyres, the Contis aint the worst, but they sure aint the best either.

The best tyres Ive ever had are Bridgestone S-02s but they stopped making them!

totally agree with you there (possibly the 1st time ever ;) )

P6000s

not the greatest, they ran them for a couple of hundred miles at Rockingham on the Leon Cupra-Rs and all the drivers complained about lack of grip, they then returned to the Eagle F1s

got my goodyear eagle gs d2s. So far so good. Better grip than Contis. Can go into corners a lot quicker. tramlining reduced significantly. Great stuff!!!

Standard fit on the 306 GTi-6/Rallye and we all get rid of them...
