Cup Needs Lubricating

Its running a bit low in oil - down to 3rd level on digital oil guage on starup.

What make and viscosity is put in the Cup as standard please?

5w40 it recommends in the servicing manual!
It may say you can use 5W40, but trust me they come with Elf 10W40 semi-sythetic as standard...

Top it up with any decent 10W40 semi-syth thats ACEA A3 rated (says on bottle) and youll be fine.

I see!

Took me bl**dy ages to find some 5w40 (fully synthetic) aswell lol!

Am I gonna be harming my engine because ive mixed the 2 oils?

wouldnt necessarily trust the startup blobs. have a look at the dipstick on a flat surface. how many miles have you done since the last oil change?

Ive bought Castrol Magnatec 10w/40 semi-synthetic, because obviously Renault doesnt have any stock.

Cars done 9000 miles philip so its never had an oil change but it had one top-up about 4k ish ago.

Its gonna get serviced very soon and im changing to castrol/mobil rs fully synthetic - meant to be really good but when i was looking at it they only had stock of 0w/40 and 10w/60 i think, anybody know whether it comes in the right grade or whether either of those two would be ok?

watch out for excessive fuel consumption. It should settle nicely after the first 3k miles. I use Elf excellium 5/40 as supplied by renaultsport for the cup cars, but it costs a bloody fortune. I am sure 10/40 will be just fine.

I used 5W/40 fully synthetic Halfords stuff (silver bottle). 5litres for £14.99 down from £30 cant be that bad!
