Cup queries....

Ive had my Cup for nearly 4 weeks and was wondering a couple of things....

Should the Cup have a Cat 1 or Cat 2 Alarm/Immobiliser? The reason I ask is that it says on the window that it has a Cat 1, however I have heard that they only have Cat 2. I have tested it, and if I open the door or bonnet whilst "armed" a continuous bleep does come from under the bonnet, but it is not what I would call a siren... more of a warning tone, which goes off when you shut the door/bonnet????

Also, does the Cup have rain sensitive wipers? Mine dont seem to be, and I am unsure if it should have...

Also, my passenger door has a lock, but not the drivers. Is it a French spec shell and are they all the same (Cups) ???

Thanks in advance

The security is Cat 1 approved, immobiliser being cat 2 and with alarm cat 1

I think the cup missed out on the rain sensitive wipers (and auto lights) to cut costs and weight?

All 03my clios seemed to have a delocked drivers door

This is correct. Rain sensitive wipers are a luxury us Cup owners have to do without. Both my doors have locks, but mine is September 2002 spec. Also the alarm and immobiliser is Cat 1 and Cat 2 respectivly as Robby stated.

Thanks guys...

The my03 theory would explain my doors, but I think my alarm is goosed...

What should the siren sound like? (if that isnt too silly a question?!)

My 03 only has passenger lock

Alarm is very loud

Try locking the car with key fob and then opening it with the key - do not do this in a built up area!!

That was what I did to test it compocup, but it just let out a barely audible warning tone which stopped when I shut the door... it was like the kind of tone that tells you that you have left your lights on, you know?

Ill have to go back to dealer...

Yea after locking the car the alarm takes a minute or so to arm. You can tell when it has because something (I forget exactly what) happens to the lock switch light or the alarm light in the car.

the lock switch light on the centre consol goes out after about a minute.. that is probably what you are meaning..

Its not really the supply date that determine the number of locks, its the build date, the 03 spec comes with clear indicators and no drivers lock, however my local dealer has a cup in and this has a drivers lock, it will be supplied on an 03 plate, but must have been built in 2002.

I am an idiot!!!!

I was only giving the car about 30 seconds before testing the alarm (Cat 1s normally arm in 30 seconds) But I tried leaving it a bit longer (about 1 minute) and WHAM!!! Jeez, what a loud siren!! It is fair to say that I am not flavour of the month with my neighbours!!!

But at least I know it works now! ;)

Got my new CUP today 03 plate

Optional extras included:-

1)car pulling to left due to dodgy tracking (They dont drive them on Pre-delivery check any more)

2)Scratched and dented alloy wheel in three places

3)one can of tyre foam

4)No cup badges

Bloke thinks 172cup badges have been discontinued, I beg to differ so hes going to get back to me. Now have a new can of tyre foam, plus car booked in for tracking and alloy repair on the 19th of May. Dont know how they are going to repair it but I would be hoping for a new one not a quick fill and spray job. Not best pleased but Im not suprised.

Has no driver doors lock plus clear indicators, strange thing to notice but wing mirror controller in car is opposite way around to my 02 Cup. Long sotry but 02 Cup is lease car 03 car is mine.

I would hold out for a new alloy for sure.

I picked up an RS 6 for a friend a month ago and kerbed and alloy on it. It is so damned easy to do! But if I was buying a new car I would expect a new one not a touch up job on the kerbed one.

Will go for a new alloy, sales bloke was OK but was a bit like "Ive sold the car now is your problem, the tracking should be done under warranty and Ill speak to my boss about the alloy" Cheers thanks a bunch!!

Id park it on his forecourt with a Placard, and protest about his attitude. Im sure it would be a lot easier for him to supply a new wheel at cost price to himself, than deal with an irate customer who makes his life a misery! lol

Remember; the customer is always right... take no sh*t!

Going to phone up Bruno Vanel tomorrow hes the Director of Marketing and sent be a lovely letter telling me how they monitor build quality with exceptional rigour now and that a should get exaclty the car i want, with minimum of fuss and delay.

What do they use to monitor build qualtiy? Monkeys, no sorry forgot French men (no disrespect to French Women)

I managed to get a new alloy when Reno kerbed mine I also have a spare! I just phoned and phoned Reno customer care and they gave in a gave me a new wheel!

Keep trying!

Never phoned Bruno Vanel, but I have written to the head of Renault UK and Renault France as well as the MD and Chairman of the dealers. They are going to give me a new alloy, but not until 19th May. Have a Cup in the Sales room which has a damaged alloy due to the actions of a pissed off delivery driver so doing to give me alloy they got as thats replacement.

When I went back down to complain no one could see me for an hour, just think its pathetic. Not even got a real apology.
