Cup Question(s)

  toyota mr2 a.t.m.
Hi there. Newbie here.:approve:

I'm hoping to buy a 172/ 182 soon, just waiting to sell my MR2.
Have searched for buying guides etc but few things still bothering me.

Just went to look at a 52 plate cup and just wondered how i can tell if it has factory alarm (if its uk car) and is it cat 1 or 2 on the cup? Is there a way to test the alarm.
When i pressed the button on the key the doors unlocked and indicators flashed but DIDN'T hear any 'chirps' from alarm.
Also does the cup have temp gauge cos i couldnt find it, and the plastic engine cover was missing - std for cup or not?
thanks

Sorry to be a pain. Great site btw

Ultrasonics should be located at the top of the door pillars inside, good way of telling if there's an alarm.
Temp gauge is in middle, along with the petrol gauge

to test the alarm, sit in it & arm the system, wait a few seconds for it to set, then wave like a madman, if its got an alarm, it'll go off.
Most (most - not all) Uk car's red alarm led's were located next ot the gear stick.

Geees. Didnt expect replies that quick!
Did notice an LED by gearstick. Didn' think to look for sensors. So do insurance companies know what alarm it has or will there still be a CAT 1 certificate to prove? Have to look for it in history folder!
Thanks guys.

P.s. Has anyone raced an MR2 N/A. mk2 (174bhp). I know the clios quicker to 60. How about 100? Im changing for something more fun which clio def is, and prob quicker on road, bends etc>

I haven't got a certifacte, if you put in the number plate the insurance company should find what car it is and what equipment.

MR2 N/A are relatively easy pickings (from my experience) but the Turbo's are another league.
