Cup Spoiler Fitting....?

  BMW M3
Hi there,

I was just wondering if anyone knows how i can change the wiring of the brake light so that it works with the current connector?

The connector from the car is different to that of the cup spoiler brake light so before i start messing about, just wanted to see if anyone knows how to do this.

Thanks

Justin

Why not inline crimp some spade connectors to the new light and also the old light so they ca be easily swapped over?
Just make sure they are properly insulated.

Mine had to be changed, Andyrg bought a connector from renault and rewired it.

Mike Rentech reckons it's pretty stright forward.

Thanks for your replies.....

I asked renault today and they dont have any type of alternative connectors (apparently). Also had a browse through halfords but nothing there either.

Do you think i could just cut off the old connector and solder the wires onto the pins. Ive have a iron and wire so not too much bother.

Not too sure what bullet or spade connectors are, and how easy they are to get, but will have a look.

Thanks

Just checked and understand what you mean by bullet and spade connectors.

Think there would still be come cutting involved and no straight swap ( that i know of ), so might try soldering tomorrow.

ive got a spare connector if you want it. When i got my cup spoiler instead of removing the connector they cut the wires. so i have the connector that plugs into the one on the spoiler with a couple of inches of wire on it. let me know if you want it..

Thanks for the offer mate, but i really need to finish it today due to some road tripping coming up, so i might just solder the wire onto the pins.

Blue4Ever: The connector of the brake light is not detactable and has no wires ( part of the plastic casing) so thats not possible unfortunatly.

Why are things never simple lol

Thanks for the help guys

Thanks for the offers guys but i eventually managed to get it on today.

The picture above is the connector running from the car which would not fit into the cup spoiler section.

I thought i would have to solder the wires on but i just pulled the wires out of the connector above ( a lot of force) and they came will bullet/spade connectors on them so they easily fit on to the pins... a pleasent suprise.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Clio looks 10 times better now :D

P.S. Additional tubing was required for the washer jet... quiet easy, but got some serious pressure now. lol
