Cup steering wheel/tracking

Got my new cup the other day and noticed on the drive home that the steering wheel is very slightly off centre. The car drives fine, amazing in fact, doesnt pull to one side or anything, but if I look at the steering wheel when driving on a straight road its annoying cos its not quite straight.

Ive been reading previous posts on here about cup tracking and it would appear that this can be a nightmare! So should I let my dealer try to straighten the steering wheel and risk them f**king it up? Or should I just forget about it? I dont want to spoil a perfect drive, but then again a straight steering wheel would be nice  . Any adivce would be appreciated.

My dealer advised me to check the tyre pressue, but its spot on at 2.3 bar.

Apart from that, the car is bloody brilliant! I love it.:D

Very rare for a steering wheel to be exaclty in the centre mate...

The camber of the road also means that the wheel is slightly off centre, mine is too, just live with it.

Mines the same - steering wheel always points slightly to the right, yet car drives perfectly. Its annoying, but Ive got used to it.

Surely you dont need to adjust the tracking ! it just need the steering wheel unbolted and put back on straight..

Jeez these french people cant put anything on straight.

looked at mine today and the wheels are exactly straight but the steering wheel locks just off centre, live with it. Then laugh at the fools in Mondeos trying to keep up mwhahahahahhaha

The steering wheel is on a master spline so the tracking will have to be adjusted to get it central, but personally if its only just off centre leave it.
As you say it drives great so dont mess with it.

mine is ever so slightly to the right also - used to bother me but do not think it is worth letting Reno do anything with it. Doesnt pull if I let go on the flat so tracking is straight it is just the alignment of the steering wheel. Im leaving it as it is as I do not want the handling comprimised.

Thanks guys, I think Ill just leave it well alone! The car handles spot on, so I dont want to jepordise that.

After reading other posts on here, my concerns are now directed to whether or not my car has the rear brake valve problem. Anyone got a definitive answer as to how to test for this? Braking seems fine so far, but havent braked really hard yet.

Mate mine was off centre when i picked mine up. Booked it into the dealer and they sorted it. Its not a hassle to do. all they have to do is adjust the track rod ends.

GET IT SORTED IT WILL SERIOUSLY PISS YOU OFF.

Just tell them how far off centre it is.

Mine is dead centre, but im having a new one fitted next week as the rubber inserts have come unstuck and Im sure the dealer will mess it up so:)and:mad:

as above, you cant just pull the wheel off and straighten it, there are three locating splines
ah okay fair enuff... last car was about 40 splines on it so you could adjust in small increments.
