Cup vs DB9

  Golf MK7,GSX-R600 L4
Thinking of getting one of these.....whats the pro and cons of each???

:clown: nah back to reality. I was lucky enough to have a *blast* again a 54 plate DB9 on the way home from work. All motorway.....boy those things can shift and the sound is awesome. My cup even dropped to 4th to try and keep up but after 100 its like the Aston had nos .... it absolutly flew ...... it was driven by a chris moyles look-a-like ! how embarrasing :rasp:

Anyone else had a jaunt with a supercar i.e 100k +??

  172 Cup
i live nr a dual carrigeway im always on the lookout for oppertunities like that!! I tried to keep up with a carrera s but no hope. bet the aston sounded great!!

  MK2 Audi TT - 2.0T dsg.
There is a DB9 parked in the street that I work in. very nice sound....

Broooom! :D

  Nippy white cup
Not on the road....had a race with an Ultima GTR at York tho....was pretty quick (11 something at over 130). I was looking down at my rev counter and it was flying round..looked back up and he`d already crossed the line lol

I had a little blast with a 360 spider the first summer I had the 172. The guy totally underestimated the clio and puts his foot down in top doing about 60. He saw I was still keeping up and dropped it down another cog but by then I'd hit the sweet spot in third and was still catching. He then knocked it down a couple of gears and took off like a rocket, the sound was awsome.

The DC was quite twisty and a couple of cars got in his way so I managed to keep up, just about. He gave me the thumbs up as we approched a built up area and slowed down to sensible speeds. It put a smile on my face for a few hours.

Not quite on par with the DB9, my dad had this baby. You don't appreciate how quick it is, forget 0-60, its the 0-150mph time you want to compare!

^^^^ fookin lovely. Like i say when we hit 100 it went from a smallish gap to a massive gap in a couple of seconds. Unbelievable! Did he let you drive it cliobuyer?

I drove it once, i had only just passed my test. Was quite intimiditaing with the long bonnet but it had a nice solid feel to it.

BBR Tuning do a 530bhp 500lbs/ft upgrade :)

i went against a pulsar gti-r with 500bhp at pod last year... that ran a 11 something. i ran a 14.8 on that run. it was stupidly fast. i know it was 500bhp ish by time, and the fact it had a laminated sheet in the window. Another quick one was a Supra - modded clearly, it left me for absoulte dust on the m4 towards swindon. im certain it was as fast as the pulsar. there by far the most quick cars ive had a poke with. otherwise once i followed a mcmerc slr but it wasnt going fast at all. enough for me to hear it warble away from the lights with a long whine to slowly increasing engine note. amazing. :)

No. I don't bother doing road racing at 100k + with supercars especially if they are one of those w*****s who slam their breaks on just to tease.

that place looks familiar to me hmmmm, dont tell me where your from though if youve got cars like that parked on your drive

  No more clio's for me!
Followed an ENZO Ferrari up the M4 once on my way back from our head office in Surrey. Lovely looking motor in the metal, sounds awesome! Number plate was EN20 how sweet! Driven by some old rich c*nt. Followed him for about 10 miles doing 75-80 just nicely cruising along, then a police car joined in and pulled him over. lol

i caught a glimpse of a Porsche carerra GT on saturday at the Edinburgh Straiton juction heading west on the bypass (if you know where it is)

Unfortunately i wasnt able to "drive next to it" as i was blocked off by some old biddy in a golf who just wouldnt enter the roundabout (she sat there for at least 3 mintues s**t scared to enter the roundabout). so by the time i got onto the slip road some 10 seconds had past and even with me motoring up there the GT was nowwhere in sight.

what a f**king car. look out for it if you live in the edinburgh area.

I get my 100's mixed up.

my sister has a db9 - so have been in one, and allowed to reverse it out of the garage once !!!
sounds wonderful, and gets quite a lot of attention, specially on the motorway with two females in it !!!!

haven't bothered to blast against it, even the Vee looks unrespectable in comparison (only on speed, not on looks !!!) took the Vee to an Aston Martin Owners Club meet twice now, and both times it has gained a lot of attention and respect (surprisingly !)

i was assuming he hit 100 as i would never go over 70! :quiet:

  RB 200 Cup!
nice cars those astons
once overtook a bentley continental GT as the old t**t driving it was doing about 40 in a 60 then after a mile he raced up behind me and was gone - still got him first tho! what a prick

My neighbour has a DB9 and it looks very nice when he gets it out of the garage at the weekend!

When we were looking for houses to rent my father went and viewed a house with a double garage that had one of those double width doors. When the guy who owned the house hit the button the door opened revealing and DB7 and DB9 parked side by side!!!!!!

  tiTTy & SV650
I had a good play with a DB5 once upto about 120, it sounded and looked fantastic but handled like a barge compared to the clio, I watched him drift across my rear view mirror as I went round a bend at 100+ muahaah good banter.

Then found myself in a convoy with an Impreza, F355 and Audi RS4 - nice convoy action, stayed with them cruising down the outside lane (at the back of course...)

Wake up to what?????? we are talking more about the experience of seeing such rare cars if you care to read the whole post mate.

I had a blast with a 360 Spider...Okay not so much a blast, as he was tootling along, but as soon as i gunned past, he dropped a cog or 2, and he shot past me faster than i can say "Fooooook!!"

Also had a blast with my Boss in his Carrera S. He slowed down to allow me to catch up, then we gunned around this roundabout, and he nearly lost it (needs new tyres), so i nearly crept in, but we hit the straight, and he left me, again! All good fun though ;)

Reading your post 1 and 10, it insinuates you were trying to race one. Plus someone on the 1st page blantantly thinks they are as quick as a 360.

My mate has a Tom Walkinshaw Racing fettled Aston Martin DB7 - always being fixed for something or other.

Mearly trying to keep up with one as i wanted to relish the experience the most i could. Yes we may of been doing over the speed limit but if he slowed down i wasnt sitting on his bumper or undercutting or trying to get past. So as far as im concerned i wasn't trying to race, i dont think a cup has any chance with a aston or any other special car!!! Jesus only telling the folks about the DB9.

If you are meaning this post blink172, he is just saying what happend. Did you not see the test on top gear, Mitsu EVO in highest gear doing 30 out accelerated by a ford sumit or other...... it was only till the evo's turbo spooled up.
Before you say it im not saying the clio is blatently faster than the 360 or that a ford is faster than an evo. but if a car like 360 is in top gear only doing 60 and a cup is in 3rd i do actually think he would make some ground for a few seconds. Supercars are fast but not that fast where they can out accelerate a hot hatch in their highest gear and lowest revs. if ya know what i mean.

  Mazda 2, MX5 Mk2.5 Sport
There only fast if they are driven properly. I wasn't saying my car was as quick as a 360, what I said was I managed to keep up (just) with one on a twisty DC (that I use regularly and know very well). I know if the roads were clearer and the guy was a better driver I wouldn't have been behind him for very long.
