curb weight of a 172 cup?

  VaVa
I've always been a bit confused by the names for weights... I assume kerb weight to mean everything included. The book figure is 1021 Kg.

ph2 172 is 1110kg
ph2 182 is 1090kg
ph2 182 Cup is 1070kg
ph1 172 is 1035kg iirc

yeah the williams is 980kg spot on with 155bhp/ton and the 172 cup is 1011kg with 170bhp/ton, 182 cup is 1060kg with 172 bhp/ton but the 172 cup is definately quicker.
o and that 197 is 1240kg with 158 bhp/ton hahaha o dear. :-D

Nothing in it between my 172 Cup and 182 Cup IMHO

182 Cup faster around wet roundabouts though ;)

Mine come from memory from the sales brochures lol I'm 99% sure they're right tbh.

Although if the Cup is 1011 then that makes the 172 1100... Because I'm 100% that the quoted weight saving was 89kg.

kerb weight is road-ready weight and (i believe) includes all fluids and a tank of fuel. some of the German manufacturers apparently also include a token 75kg in their kerb weights to allow for a driver.

dry weight is without any people, fuel or fluids (oil, coolant, brake fluid, etc).

a tank of fuel will weigh about 35kg (11 gallons) - so it's possible that the 1021/979 figures are kerb/dry weights.

has anyone had one on a weigh bridge or similar?

^^ old thread but could'nt resist posting i just found out my 172 Cup weight ; 960 kg :approve:
At work we use a weigher , not exactly what you call a scale, for measuring the contents of 20/40 foot containers. Accuracy +- 2kg

This weight is with half a tank of fuel, back seats gone and 6,3 kg Sparco buckets in the front. (plus Sparco subframes which are quite heavy)

  182 Cup
I weighed my 182 cup when it was standard and full of fuel with the optional recaros - it came in at 1100kg.

Going to remove the rear buckles/belts this afternoon, also the plastic bits where the rear speakers are supposed to go, where the rear belts roll up into.

must be good for another .03 hp :clown:

forgot that the K-tec exhaust weighs a LOT less than the OEM exhaust..

Trying to find out where my weightloss comes from , from 1021 to 960..
I remember weighing all the seats and that bar thing in the back, came to a small 50kg.. the exhaust made up the rest of the difference i think. No Cat and all , could be the remaining 11kg

anyway quite happy, it's 202bhp/ton

thats a fair bit of weight then! i changed mine over a few weeks ago and i deffiantly noticed the difference!

probably also due to side-airbags that the 172 Cup seats do'nt have.

With the weight removed from mine it felt like a different car, could'nt believe it would make such a difference. I can compare it to a passenger missing , weightwise.
In the end the laptime is not going to be a lot/any different compared to a full option one, but it just feels so much more nippier/responsive

Ph-quick's manage to only be 14kg heavier than a cup despite having good seat, AC, ABS etc. Thats pretty impressive tbh.

Your coilovers will likely weigh less than standard shocks and springs too mate. H&R's isnt it?

Which ktec exhaust do you have fitted?

Good lad.

95% the driver and 5% the car

Ph-Quick ftw

pretty impessive, what (toilet)paper was used making the phase 1 ?:):approve::D

I know the Ph quick is a nice + light car, certainly driverskills count bigtime. I will only just kill it with my lighter Cup and with that verrrrry many years of driving-skills ,everywhere+anywhere :quiet:

btw ; Cup seats are the worst yep

Personally, I find the Cup seats more comfy than my old Ph1 leather / alcantara seats. Yeah they don't look or feel as nice to touch, but they fit my frame better and are much firmer.

Mates first comment when driving my cup (a**sehole didn't take it over 6Krpm) was how good the seats felt (6' 1)
they still look and feel shite though!

Absolutely, it's a great way to improve performance. It just seems to be slightly over-egged on CS at the moment.
