Custom Badges...

Final coat of laquer has just dried... they need 24hrs to cure before being fitted to the car.

Turned out quite nice, anthracite badges with Inferno writing.

wow that's a few layers of laquer it makes them look great! sharp detail on the edges.... Process??

looks good! take it my little tip worked out well?

not really, no lol. They needed a white base to the writing before the Inferno colour really came through.

Process:

Buy badges off ebay = £20.03
Thorough clean and sand using 1200 grit
Primer, sand, primer, sand
Anthracite base coat, dry for 24 hours
sand
Anthracite base coat, dry for 24 hours
Hand paint matte white writing as a base for the Inferno.
Hand paint Inferno writing, 2 coats.
dry thoroughly
Laquer x 3, leaving 8 hours between coats

Tips:

TAKE YOUR TIME!!
Its all in the preperation, this isnt something that can be started and finished in 1 day... took me 4 days.

Did uhave to primer it first?? or just paint onto the writing
then dry.. then lacquer??

read up there ^^

Middo advised to just paint the Inferno straight onto the anthracite, but that didnt work as Inferno needs a white base coat for the colour to work properly.

So I had to do the anthracite, then primer the letters only in white, then paint them inferno. Was a nightmare but they look superb! :approve:

shall be on the car as soon as i have time... possibly over the weekend.

would rather make sure the laquer has fully cured before putting them on.
