Custom exhaust??

Just taken the exhaust off the 172, ready for the stealth to go on when it arrives. WTF is this s**te? Looks like its been made up from a smaller one its only just over 1+3/4 inch bore, and pigeon s**t welding everywhere. You can see where its been joined using the original flange near the cat. Tubex stamped on the middle box. The rear mount is completely missing also, it was on a really small rubber mount (that broke) so ive ordered one with the exhaust.

In one place its been bent to fit and it narrows quite abit. I knew the exhaust was crap when i bought the car but i didn't reaslise just how bad it was. Im glad the mount broke now and propted me to get a new one sooner rather than later.

I always though my mates 182 reved easier so I should see some improvement in the car with the new one surely, what do you lot think?

post a pic of the whole back box bud ? im 99% certain from what i can see so far thats a non standard exhaust system.

and when you fit the stealth i put money on it that you will notice a power difference with out a doubt.

Well i have never seen a non gen back box like that on a clio of any kind, but its deffo not genuine and a pure load of rubbish. The mid section look like its from another clio but 1.4/1.6 have smaller middle boxes, it look like someone has taken it out the skip. If your car was having trouble with power/ reving i would put it down to that.

Actually i was quite pleased with the performance before, but steves does seem to rev better. Maybe it will scare the s**t out of me when its all done

I reckon ur right it must be out of the skip. The cars only done 48k and 5 years old. surely it cant of eaten two exhausts in that time? can it?

Exhaust on RS are rubbish they rarely see 3 yrs old, that was a bodge job that some one got and fitted on there like a mate of a mate job. Who ever did hat must be mad.

Nope. Welds gone on custom stainless twice now. Been no more reliable than the Renault one. lol.

all down to the grade of s/steel used too. we order in stuff at work, from aalco and its ment the be s/steel, still corrodes though
