Custom Plates non standard

  Clio 182 Trophy no. 235

Just wondering about none standard custome plates, like that guy with c172 cup, How did u get this plate.

I guess it must have come from another car but how did you track it down and find whether it was actually in existence?

Im looking at getting a private plate. I looked on the DVLA web site. Found one I like but unsure about getting it. Also I see a lot of plates with the numbers shifted around to make a word. I know they are illegal but do the old bill generally ignore them ? or what sort of trouble would you get into if you do get stopped?

Altering from standard in anyway is illegal, however I have found if you stick to standard digits, allbeit mispaced, that can still be read by camera/cops/public in event of an accident, they are ok with the boys in blue ( touch wood).

What really gets you in the s*** is if you use italics, bolts in wrong places etc, as this means the plates could then not be read in the above instances correctly/at first glance.

By the way the dvla site is great, bought 3 myself, no probs at all, no brokers commision, 3rd partys, transfer fees included in price etc. Would recommend them tenfold over others. Mates of mine have had real problems elsewhere....

Hope this helps.

Mate at work got pulled up last week and got fixed penalty fine, just for having re-arranged spacing.

Should have read :N4 T**, but he had it N4T **.

North Wales police, BTW
