CV Problem (With pictures, everyone likes pictures)

Car was running spot on until I ran into a Type R at the lights, after a complete waste of petrol I could hear a slapping noise from the front of the car cruising at a low speed, got home and had a look under the car and I discovered this..





That's both CV joints.

I'm missing a clip off each. I've got tons of jubilee clips at work which is a 25 mile drive, is there any way I can attach these temporarily so I can get to work in the morning? Or is it not worth the risk?

Good shout, found some others have had the same problem and they used cable ties.

cable tie is a bodge, use a jubilee clip - done

Will jubilee up when I get to work, any jubilee clip? I've read that they can knock?

Isn't that a bit strange that both went at once?
Could it be they've both been like that for a while and it's started making noise because dirt's got into the bearing? :S
Jubilee clip them and see if the noise goes away I guess!

I did have a good look and feel and its pretty clean and found no dirt/grit. All sorted now, cleaned up, packed with new grease and Jubilee'd up. The noise has gone now
