cv rubber leaking behind wheel...

  Audi S3 225

Hi, just wondering how much of a problem this is and how expensive is it to fix, ive had a a look it is behind the front drivers side wheel, there is a split in the rubber and there is oil and crap everywhere im worried it will go on my brakes.

Do i just need a new rubber and are they easy to fit?

Thanks

Allan

should be more worried bout the cv joint / drive shaft running dry get it replaced asap. wheel off, disc off, hub off (not 100% about what you need to remove on the clio) takes time garage would charge bout £80 - £100 to do it cause of the time involved. You can get universal gators which are split and u glue on, theyll fail every few months so not worth it. I used to always get the biggest universal gator i could and shove it in boiling water to stretch it over the hub etc, then secure with cable ties, always worked and much much cheaper.

About £30 for the new rubber from Renault, as a temporary fix, pack it wiht CV greae, and patcgh it up wiht a bike puncture repair kitm, will last for ages
