Daft Question

  mk1 Clio
Hi, I went and bought an induction kit for my clio, just because I had the spare money and don't know how to fit it proper lol.... Yeah thats just me tho.

I've got a 1996 - 1997 P reg 1.2 5dr clio.

I can take the whole standard air filter out but does it matter to cut all the wires that read the air intake or is there another I can fit it and still keep all the wires connected?....Any help will be greatful, only thing I can think of is cutting the wires, don't know if it would help the car in the long run

Thanks

What wires you talikng about ?

Sorry if my reply is total bullshit,as i dont know much about old clio 1.2's but it may help.

Is it some kind of wires for a air flow meter or something that goes into a little box on the air intake pipe ?

If so leave that on the intake pipe, the Ecu needs it for setting correct fuelling (Air/fuel ratio).

If you need to disconnect it don't cut the wires, there should be a multiplug on the end of the wires that unplugs from the air flow meter thing. ;)

  mk1 Clio
Yeah D1cky, wires that sit on the little box.....

.....Ok Leave the wires there, easyest thing to do lol.

Yeah Pinky, your prob right just taking it to get fitted by people that know what they are doing,....was just trying to save some money, and want to get to know alittle more about cars myself

don't cut any wires mate. They are probably air temp or MAP sensors or TPS.
work out how to do it without cutting wires. Post some clear picks if you really want help

That looks identical to my mk2 phase1. the wires are needed. the block doesnt need to stay on the inlet box thing which the air filter is inside of.

I've been trying to drive about without the wires connected.....Could anyone tell me what the wires are auctal for and are they a must on the car?

Is it possible to leave the wires connected to that little black thingy, and just put it somewhere else out of sight lol :p

Thanks

Be for air metering, there either the MAP or MAF sensors (not sure which the D7F uses off the top of my head). You want it connected or it'll do silly mpg due to not know the air quantity going into the engine.

I'm guessing you've bought a "universal" IK?

  mk1 Clio
Yeah mate, Universal one was cheaper :p

I'll go and take the thing out and try leave it connected if not then i'll take it along to a garge and get them to do it lol
