I fitted a piper catback system to my 182 today and it all fits well was a doddle to fit. However when I was underneath I saw something that scared me at the front of the cat (which I didn't detatch) and then when I drove it there was a HUGE leak which wasn't there before. Here is what it looked like:

I know they are all pretty much the same photo but I just wanted to be sure so I've uploaded them all.

Anybody know anything about this? It looks like either the manifold or the cat flange is rotten, or possibly both.

Buy a replacement cat to manifold kit (genuine only), it comes with the cups to put in the flange.

Very "normal" for a 182. Albeit that doesn't make it ok.

As Bozo says genuine cat to manifold kit (only £15 or so) to replace the nuts/bolts/springs/flange inserts/gasket. Clean the manifold & cat flanges up a bit with a file.

Yeah mine was like this! Use a punch to knock the old cup washers out and then file the rust away, will fit snug then!

when putting the new washers in the manifold if you put the screw through the washer and tap the screw it makes it alot easier to get it in. i dont mines recently and it worked a treat.

Tbh if you want to make it last longer, wirebrush that rust off then treat it with something

I don't think treating it would work to be honest - it'll get too hot!
