Damn Renault _Advise Please!

  LY V6 with Recaros
Not really sure where I stand with this..

I've just had my car serviced at Renault Romford, when I got it back they told me that the battery/ecu cover had snapped, so it is now a bit loose (i'll try to get some pics up) It's nothing major or anything, but my car is only a year old, so I don't want it to stay like it.

I work for a garage myself, so I got the guys in the workshop to have a look at it, and they say it looks like one of the renault mechanics has leaned on it to break it like that.

So I ring up Renault and tell them that I think that one of their mechanics may have broke it, as I don't really do anything under the bonnet, and they are the only people who have ever done any work on it. But they wont help me out at all, they just say how can they believe it's not been anywhere else? They won't repair it under warrenty either, although he said he'd give renault uk a ring anyway to see if there was anything they could do.

Do I actually have a leg to stand on here or am I totally wasting my time with them?

They tend to brake as the metal is quite brittle.

It should be a warranty issue, but is only a couple of quid for the bracket anyhow.

Firstly wait to see what Renault UK say . They might just replace it .Did they say how long before they contact you and tell you the outcome ?

If you get no joy , i'd go back to the dealership , and take your b/f , husband or dad etc ....... and tell them your not happy and want it replacing asap as its down to their negligence that its broken .At the end of the day if they break something they should replace it , it shouldn't matter if you have a warranty or not .They won't want people kicking off in the dealeship, especially if there are other customers about , it looks bad on their part .

They might try to fob you off with you being female . Or you could ring Ren UK yourself and explain the situation to them

Yeah but the point is if " they " broke it " they " should replace it irrelevant of the cost .Tbh if it is only a couple of quid its worse as its not gonna break the bank for them to replace it .

dealers are the most ignorant people in the world, when it comes to having to replace something that was their fault, or something that should be covered under warranty. dont let them try and fob you off. Just say that it was fine when you took it in and when you got it back it was broken- therefore their to blame.

Thanks for the advice, they said they will contact me later on today, if not I will try Renault uk myself. The thing is, they are telling me that if they broke it then they would of told me at the time and fixed it, that is their excuse! They are denying everything and being very unhelpful!

start a thread "how many peoples ecu bracket has snapped"

print it off and show it too them, you'll get a new one then!

Lol! Should they be covered under warrenty then, whether they broke it or not? As they said it isn't?

Thanks :) Can't believe how much hard work renault can be! I had so many things go wrong on my citroen, and I would just ring them up to tell them, and they'd ask me if I can bring it down that day, and they'd sort it, no questions about the warranty or trying to get out of it!

How come so many people seem to have had this problem and get it sorted under warranty, and they tell me I can't?? Grr..

as the thread has proved it is 99% likely that they didnt break it.

i took my car to get serviced once at renault, and as i went to collect my car, and the woman said she'd show me to my car, so on the way to my car, she says we had a bit of an accident with it, we took it thru a car wash and it pulled the rear spoiler off, but its ok we fixed it now. Sneaky, taking me away from the sales room.... freakin jerks, did i ask them to wash my car, no. and then about a week later i noticed the screws that hold it on had fallen out, so i took a look, and they had shoved bluetac in the gaps to hold the spoiler on !!!! f**** t***s, never had a service at renault since. what else have they fixed with blue tac, maybe they decided to hold the oil filter in with bluetac or something, god damn idiots

^That's why I specifically asked them not to wash mine when they serviced it lol!

^ yeah I did the same. They seem surprised but I didn't wanted some spotty teenager washing my car with a gritty sponge.

What proof ? A couple of people have mentioned that they do tend to break so that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt they didn't break it ?? Come on mate open your eyes .It sounds more likely that they did break it to me as Deb182 says they are the only people who have worked on the car , too much of a coincidence if you ask me . And as Fred said , it is covered under warranty so why didn't they just replace it !

They are the only people who have had my car, although don't know whether I should be blaming them now I have found out it is such a common problem - but if they are to blame or not, I still don't see why they can't fix it under warranty! It's not like I'm asking for something really expensive to be replaced!
