Damsel in DNS Distress (Revels)

My PC is taking like 20mins to load a page, but only on CS. Everything else in generally quite slow, but thats just virgin.

Someone had problems before and someone posted instructions to change the DNS I think, well it edited some text file and it worked fine after that!

Anyone help?

Doubt it'll be DNS.. if it's DNS, it'll only be crap the first time you lookup a name.

Start -> run -> type in "cmd" and press enter.

Then:

tracert www.cliosport.net

And e-mail it to daz@cliosport.net

If this is Revels tho, let him stay offline for a bit.. give us some peace.

If its a temp DNS issue then you could set it staticly in your hosts file. But normally its cached.

the tracert will determine if there is a problem with one of the hops.

Looks fine to me. One hop is a bit dodgy, but, looks fine generally. I have seen what's happening at one hop cause real issues though in the past.. so could be that.

Have you tried rebooting both the router and modem?
Just sounds like your throughput is being really battered..

Is anyone elsle on Virgin/NTL here? Could do with comparing the routing.

Right, the problem is.. your routing. For some reason, you're getting timeouts over one hop.. Jacko isn't on his, even though he is taking the same last few hops!

Do another tracert, and see if the same Request Timed out * * * exist.

If they do, I'd try to speak to Virgin Tech Support, and ask them why it's happening.. cus' it's not on Jacko's connection.

Line 1 which is virgin is uber slow, takes aaaaaaaages. Thats the first one I sent when you said the hoppy thing is broke.

2nd pic was the other line, its slow, but now as bad as the Virgin.

3rd pic is Virgin again.
