Dash binacles (cable drive)

Hey all, i'm going to need to run a cable driven speedo for ease, and was wondering was it just the 172/182 cups that had a cable driven speedo or if there were any base spec cars that had it aswell

172 Cup only. It's a drive from the 'box housing.

The rest run off the ABS sensors.

Any Mk2 without ABS will have the same cable drive.

All Ph1's did too....

...and some of the normal (non cup) Ph2s did, it was pretty random on Ph2s. Most ive seen have had the sensor in the box!

All 172 Ph1s, All 172 Ph2 Cups and (some) regular 172 Ph2's ran speedo sensors in the back of the box, which drive the dash..

Some regular Ph2 172's, and all 182's use the ABS

Bloooors and Jesus's 172's had the sensor from the back of the box to name a few...

To the OP - the sensor can be had from Renault for under £30, then its just a 3 pin connector. Power, Earth and Signal. Signal runs to a pin on the dash/clockset..

I need a cable drive one as its going to be used on a non renault box ya see, so an early clockset should have a cable drive pretty much
