I'm useless with electrics so though I'd put my membership to good use.

Was driving along earlier as normal and my some of my lights behind the dash ramdomly went out:

After I got home I checked the other exterior lights and my rears inc/ numberplate lights are out too:S

Anyone got any ideas? I'm guessing a fuse has gone but no idea where to start lol.

So glad I'm getting a new car tomorrow!

Cheers,

Luke

Fuses are on the passenger side of the dash, where the door meets it. There is a removable panel.

Think I missworded myself lol:eek:

I know where the fuses are but don't know where to start at which one(s) to check.

Cheers for the quick replies though

All I know is its one of the big ones in the engine fuse box as I changed mine last year.

i think there's a few red fuses.

there's a fuse puller on the plastic cover as well.

just have a look to see if the piece of wire has snapped.

There's also a listing on the back of the cover which tells you which fuse does what.

iirc its toward the bottom of the fuse box

What was it please as mine has done this tonight? No number plate light, left rear light out and no dash lights. Perfect start to winter motoring LOL

Okay this now seems to have got worse. Saw a post suggesting it was a sidelight fuse that controlled all these and hoped to find it had blown. It hadn't - also now neither rear lights seem to work although indicators, brakes, reverse lights lights all do on both clusters.

What the frig is going on?!

Right, been back out and actually gave some thought to what might be going on here. Originally I took out the fuse I expected to be faulty and it looked ok, so thought I would swap the 2 sidelight fuses to see whether the problem moved. Having done that then neither rear lights worked. I took both fuses out and brought them inside. I could see that one had clearly blown in half, however the other is kind of just frazzled at the tip - it looked in the slight dark of the car like it was still fully intact but comparing it to a new one clearly shows it is buggered.

Of course what seems to have happened is that when I swapped the good one in and turned on the lights that ALSO blew straight away. Something is clearly shorting out causing it to blow and I have to assume that thing is the number plate light which is rusted quite badly and I think is the problem here.

If anyone has any other thoughts could they let me know!!
