Dash removal Mk1 & tweeter mounting options

  MR2 2.0 N/A & Mk1 1.2Clio
could anyone email me the pics from the mk1 dash removal article or tell me how i remove the top part.

Is it just the three or so torx screws that are vissible and some brute force?

And where have you mk1 owners put your tweeters? im thinking about mounting them in top part of dash. dont know where else to put them.

Cheers MJ
(any pics would be great)

not sure about putting in the tweeters but to remove the top bit undo the 3 screws across the top then there is one on each end (visable once you open the door). once all these are undone just sit in the drivers seat and pull the top towards you and off it comes!

cool. i thought about putting them in the door cards but near the top, but then they sound better if facing you so thought about putting them in the top part of the dash or if i cant be bothered might just put them where the old speakers used to be in the dash.

need to have a think.

Anyone else? surely most people have put new speakers in their mk1 and will probably have comps??

how about puttin em where your mirror stalk thing is, the plastic thing pops off so will be piss to drill few holes in and feed the wire down the card to your comps?

when i fitted new speakers in my rt i put the new speakers into the old place in the door cards and then fitted the tweeters just above the electric mirror controls in the doorcards to...looked and sounded pretty good

aren't you ment to have the tweeter and speaker a certain distance apart though

That pic brings back memories...had those exact same sony tweeters in my old 306...a place which would be good would be on the pillar where the ultrasonics would be on a 172 (the one at the side of the windscreen) they can be pointed where you like and as they are at a different height the sound separation should be more noticeable. Also the bits of plastic can be popped out, so less messing around with installation.

This article might give you some ideas. This guy is basically the king of the sound quality competition circuit in the USA. His preference is to have your tweeters mounted on the A-pillars. I'm going to look into this myself. I just had some Boston Pro60's installed myself last week, and I'm looking to get my tweeters firing more directly at me, rather than being hidden under the little grilles on the dash of my 182.

definately go for the mirror cover mate, this gives you the best sound for the car as it is not too much in your ear and is meant to be a front speaker afterall, so why put them into the middle of the car?

All ICE installers put the tweeters their, and this is because they are at the right height (roughly) and angle for the best sound!!!!!

Another reason, simply they are then in line with the speakers in which they go with!!!!
