De-cat Knocking!

Just had a janspeed de-cat fitted to my car mk2 172, under hard acceleration its now touching/banging/hitting something?

Anyone had this? No how to fix?

Cheers

what a pain in the ass clio zorsts are..... i fitted a magnex about three weeks ago, and only now after alot of bendind heat shields etc is it right...

only thing i suggest is to get the car up on stands and shake the exhaust about abit, you should be able to see where its hitting, or just take it back

the rule of thumb is there should be at least 10mm of gap between the pipework/boxes to the car

i no where it is! mine did it! if u put your car on a ramp or pit n get underneath, where the de cat comes down from the engine, then sort of begins to come in line with the rest of exhaust(mines got some form of silencer/box on it) the top of that catches on some sort of heat shield on the floor of your car, just bend the shield upwards a bit.if u have a look, i think it will be quite obvious mate.

however,....... that was the first time i fitted it.last week i put it back on again and now, it rattles somewhere else....i dont no whether my exhaust is catching on my back bumper or not?it sounds like it!its annoying!but then again its a renault!

Can just go a little OT, how fdo you find the quality of the Janspeed? Where did you get it from and how much was it, and same with fitting?

Did yout insurance go up?

Sorry to not answer your question!

i thought the magnex was a very poor fit. proper disapointed so ive got rid.

Mine is second but you can get them from Motorsportworld.

Fitting wise i got it done at mr exhuast(work came with a warrenty!), £30 but i couldnt be assd to put it on the stands etc (bolts had also been rounded off)

Not gonna tell my insurance...

Off to mr exhaust then...

my moongoose uses to knock so bad on the rear beam - well annoying!!! so i got some heat proof sponge material and stuck it on the rear beam - its fine now and the sponge is still there!!!!
