De-cat Questions!!

  Inferno 182 FF
Hey,

I have a 182 with a K-Tec ultrasport exhaust fitted. I am thinking about fitting a De-cat pipe. Need to know a few things.

1) Is there a way of not having an emission warning light on?

and....

2) will it make the system louder?

Many Thanks,

Tom

Right, Louder is fine... just not sure i could cope with the warning light being on all the time, would annoy me!

Stick a bolt in the lambda hole on the decat, and tie the second lambda sensor under the car.

Light won't come on if the lambda's just sensing fresh air

There's a device you can buy from K-tec that knocks the light off. Might just be for the 172 that though, sure someone else will be along to confirm that. Or you could try disconnecting the battery and resetting the ECU that works for some.

I took my instrument panel to bits and put a bit of insulating tape behind the the tubing where the light reflects up through. Best way by a far imo although the most work.

Knocking the light off only worked for a few weeks with mine and the bolt thing is a big no no. You need the bottom lambda in regardless

second lambda does nothing.. only tells you your cat may be faulty but does'nt do anything to engine-management/mixture . I've had mine tied away on my Saxo 16v decatted, was fine.
