Dealing With Modified Written-Off Cars?

  1.6 Focus, 1.6 122S
Right, heres my problem. My car is modifidied, suspesnsion and wheels. These have both been declared.

No i dunno if my car will or will not be written off when it gets checked over.

What i was going to do is remove the suspensiona and wheels, put originals back on. BUT if the car is then not written off, i wont get the money to replace the wheel and and possible suspension damage that there is!

Soo.. what to do?

Yeah it's normally in the small print that they will on pay out for OE as the replacement replacement. Which is where insurance is totally ghey, they charge you to declare but they wont replace them anyway really out of order. What happened to your car?

right well the alloys wont be 2 hard to switch over.. but the suspension will.. i don't have any sprig compressors!

mitchzxr, had to swerve to miss a muppet of a driver. Mounted the kerb and did quite a bit of damage.

Ah f**k mate, hope it survives, really like your car.
yeah best to swap it all back, just buy some compressors £10-15 max, better than a voided policy! Bet the muppet didnt stop or anything

But he said that he declared the mods, so why would he have a voided policy? It's more likely to be voided by him putting it back to standard!!

this is the predicament im in, all though i think that the suspension is shot after the accident anyway after having had a look this morning.

Some more details in Media.

... and since this will be off her insurance surely they can't wriggle as much on the returning to OE point.

They need to ensure your car is returned to the situation it was in when their insured party hit it ... they can't argue any small print about not repairing mods when you didn't sign a contract with them. And if they do, then you'll have to use the extra motor protection insurance stuff that most policies include and pursue her for damages to get the difference.
