Decat FAIL!

  Family Bus
So, had my decat on a few months, all was well to begin with, loved the noise!!

A couple of months ago I noticed a power loss, thought this had been partly solved when discovered the Induction filter had been mounted to close to the Air Inlet pipe, and had this remounted, seemed a bit better.

Anyway, MOT is tomorrow :)() and so went and had the cat put back on the car today, and low and behold....driving out of the garage, an instant and extremely noticable power increase. Car feels light as a feather in comparison to this morning!!!

Gutted tbh. Looks like Cat is staying on, and noise will have to be lost!

Boo! Power of noise tho!

That's odd.... Did the emission light come on the dash when the de-cat was on??

must of been somet in the decatblocking and now its probally ghone so id personaly put the decat back on i love the sound of myne :)

ps if anyone wants a decat for a 1.4 or 1.6 ive got a brand new one

No lights were on at any time.

No idea how to check inlet emissions tbh. Will this not be done on MOT?!

So you think I should put it back on and see if its still improved?! In two minds tbh.

Lol, its exhaust emissions ;)
When you fit a de-cat, the llambda's sense that there is a more fresh burn being sent through the exhaust and hence you get higher emissions so the emission warning light (Looks like an orange engine in the bottom right hand corner) will come on. If it didn't and you notice the car is more responsive and quicker and get it plugged in to check that the llambda's are ok and not faulty. Even then though, the light would come on.....

  Family Bus
tut. If he'd said emissions alone Id have got it...just didnt know the 'inlet' bit lol.

Defo no lights have appeared while decat on.... and there most definately is an increase in power and responsivness
:S

Confused now lol!

my emissions light comes on around 2 weeks after i plug it in ive not really noticed a power loss so just leave the light on now as it doesnt bother me

should i be noticing a power loss?

Thanks...bit far away for you though!! I whiz it to garage again if I decide to put it on again. May speak with people that did it for me in first place!

^no u knobber u can check ur inlets too

Emissions on the inlet? Are you on crack? Inlet has air, from the atmosphere, and fuel, sprayed into the cylinder. So thats pure air, and pure fuel. Not burnt air/fuel from a combustion chamber. So,
SOUTHPAW.

check the inlet emmisions?

have a day off... the inlet dosn't emit anything, hence the name in let...

dont quite know what you are warbling on about but the use of the word knobber hasnt cleared anything up other than that you dont know what you're on about:S

my car has more torque with decat, i have a hill that i test my car on everytime i do a mod, it started off as a 2nd gear hill its now on the power in 3rd :D

Lol, hes giving us southern b******s a bad name! I'm gunna keep an eye out for him as hes from around my hometown and show him what the fezza of justice is all about ;)

Well obviously yes your fuel to air ratio is going to effect your emmisions and if they are wrong then its not going to run right, but there is no such thing as an inlet emmsion test

  Arctic blue 182ff
ok^ thanks all for making me look like a idiot, when really there was sense behind it all

edit: i never said the was a test, mearly check ur inlet emmisions, written incorrectly i apologise for,.,,

You dont need to apoligize for getting anything wrong its not a problem matey (everyone makes mistakes), its just people don't appreciate being called knobbers! Which incidently would be nice if you did say sorry to dave.

Huggles?

Apologies accepted! We need to clear something up though, an emission is something thats emitted, The inlet side takes air and fuel IN, therefore doesnt priduce an emission. The way you check your air/fuel ratio is using the Llambda sesnors which are on the exhaust side.

  LY 182
yeah not alot you can check on the inlet side.

air leaks will affect emmisions as the lambda sees too much oxygen and trys to over compensate but thats about it

So in summary this thread is, woman swaps exhaust and "feels" there is a difference in power. Balls to RR or dyno'ing an engine I'll just get a woman in next time I want a torque curve drawn *fetches crayons*

Crawl back under your rock love.

I had already known there was a power loss, and had a few things checked. When the decat was removed there was a massive increase.
Just because Im a woman. Sexist wan*er tbh

I'm not your love, ta.

I'd have said the same if you were a bloke. Too much rubbish spouted on this forum about decats by both sexes tbh. Know how? if you're going to call me a wanker the least you can do is back up your insult with some facts, I'm guessing you had it rolling roaded before and after the swap? Placebo...

  Family Bus
No need to be such an arrogant arse about it tho is there?!

I dont think I have (before last post) offended anyone with this thread?

And as for saying you'd have said the same if I was a bloke.... may I quote...

Yeah. Ok.

Yeah. Ok.

I was sarcastic yes but I did not call you a stupid b**ch, dopey cow, clueless bint etc, that would have been a personal insult. However you felt the need to call me a wanker....

As for offended, you'll have to try harder than that if you want to offend me tbh so you've still not offended anyone yet.

  Family Bus
Ok...apologies for the wan*er! My car has just massively failed MOT so I am stressed out lol! And yours was first post i read so was a bit mad!

:nono: yourself.

The only reason I can think of that you could have noticed what you felt was a noticeable improvement just by swapping back to the cat is that the decat was ill fitted or had started to leak on the joints and you didnt have enough back pressure. Without seeing/driving the car though it's a bit hard to say.
