DECAT on a magnex ?

Cro

  Meg'd r27
your going to need to weld another pipe onto those to get it to the manifold, it will probably be loud but should make a decent difference more so in low down torque and as for MOT's thats 50:50 to be honest if it fails or not, depends on the emissions and if tester!

Also my back box stick out the back of my car... i want it tucked under the car like standard. could i get the middle pipe cut down n then it fitted underneath??

Magnex systems tend to need to be cut back a bit hence the reason yours is hanging out the back

Well the garage i got it from said it will fit under then when he fitted it he was like this isnt going to go under, ill speak to my mechcanic see if he can cut it and stuff. but will that decat pipe fit nicely.?

my mechanic said it will only mess my car up in the long run, plus the expense to get the cat fitted before mot:(... mite still do it thou ;)

Its easy enough to do as the cat to middle section has a seperate telescopic sliding pipe mount so no need to weld or any major adjusting.

Janspeed also have a decat, silenced type. Like the Ktec will bolt straight up to yours from between Manifold and cat. Back breaking job to change but not a phsically hard job and its well worth fitting one imo. Great performance per £££ mod

I did just post this in one of my other forums but relised I this one would probably be better to post it into.

Its that time of year again... MOT... I am quite friendly with the bloke at the garage he has a Renault 5. I was gonna ask him about a Decat on my exhaust...

If i was to get a striaght through pipe will it fail the MOT, or will the sliencer be a better one?

Judging by the name i guess the sliencer quiet downs the Decat?

I declared my exhaust on my insurance...under Cat/Decat so that wont bump it up, if im paying for it i may as well have it right haha??

As above i am really confused still with this whole striaght through pipe...Is that all i need to make it a decat and to then get it fitted... I dont want to weld:) thanks

If you bought one of these for example

http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=2034

there is no welding needed, simply undo 4 bolts and disconnect the lambada's (remove your cat) unscrew both lambada's carefully then remove the gasket on the cat(flange side), put the gasket from your cat on the decat(flange side), exhaust paste it all up and refit the 4 bolts screw your lambada's back in and connect again

only prob's i can see you having is your original gasket may be perished so best to have a replacement handy also you need the hands and arms of a small boy to fit the decat so have one handy me and bayliss had great fun doing mine ;)

hope this kinda help lol

I just called k-tec and they comfirmed all that info... cheers, guess a decat is on the books then although it will fail the MOT... its due next tuesday so im guessing a whole year of DECAT!!!...

Is it basically the same to make it back to normal? (ready for next MOT)

exactly just the reverse of what i said above matey :D

if your worried at all a garage should charge roughly £40ish to change it for you or perhaps put up a thread in the wanted section there might be someone in the london area from cs willing to do it for beer tokens
