decat power gains

any1 done a before and after rolling road of a decatted 16v,(or any car for that matter)?manufacturers/suppliers claim 4-5bhp for some 10 or so for others,whats the real gain?

Right, My car was rrd before and after my K-Tec exhaust & de-cat.

Results didnt look too impressive at first glance, gains of less than 2bhp and 3lb/ft.

But on the road, it was very noticeably quicker.....strange I thought for a little gain.

I looked again at the graphs and it showed my power was now peaking @ 6650rpm instead of 6950rpm. Also, my torque was peaking @ 4801rpm instead of 5100rpm. Also, the gains were consistantly higher throughout the rev range with larger gains in the mid-range than at the peak.

Not everything is about peak power gains!

yeh toms right u dont get an awesome peak power gain it just frees it up nicely specially towads top end and ull notice the differance

normally the larger cc the engine the more bhp you will gain.I dont think you would ever gain more than about 10-12 bhp though.
