Declaring new points to insurers...??

Rang up tesco's t let them know that id acquired some points and they told me to let them know come renewal time....is this right??

Just dont want something to happen and when i claim they say... you've got points not registered that invalidate my policy.

I explined that i didnt have them when i started my policy but incurred them since. She said thats fine... let us know when u come to renew" ? took her name... and she said she'd make a note on my policy that ive called to inform them i will be declaring some points when i renew.

just seemed a bit strange.

Yup, you only have to declare at renewal time.

I think 3 of mine have just come off. I'm down to 3 now.

Most just do this - they take them into account in next years premium.

I got stung this year though as I had convictions from the last year's insurance period that I was waiting to go to court for so had to ring them and tell them straight away as they were in last year's insurance period not this year's. :S

Dansta, that is what happened to me when i got points. Directline told me that it made no difference to my policy at the time, but had been noted for when my renewal came up.

All calls are recorded, so if anything comes of it, you can tell that you have done as told by the customer service person u spoke to.

Same happened with me Dan, told my insurer as soon as i had them but they said it didnt matter until i was due for renewal.

Yup, i beleive it does state that you MUST inform them as soon as you receive them....... (as its a change in ur position like moving house etc)

BUT most companies will nto do anythign until it comes to renew...... so you shoudl be fine.

No harm in making a simple call to let them know so its all logged tho :D
