Deep scratch removal !

I'm not sure if this is in the right section (if it's not please can it be moved)

Here goes, the other day some of brothers so called 'mates' put a bin on the top of his car, the bin was the usual round ones which are found outside fast food places.
The bin has scratched the roof of the car & in some places has taken the paint off, they basically picked up the bin & put it on the roof (standing up !)

Is there anyone who can sort this ?? (preferably without getting the whole roof sprayed)

Would it just be a call to chips away etc ? Or can someone on here work their magic ?

His cars black, it's only a mk4 fiesta but that's not the point.
Were in Essex, near Romford, but I don't think he'll mind travelling a bit to get it sorted.

They will be paying for it, he's made sure of that.

Thanks
Craig.

If they are footing the bill might as well make a good job of it, get it resprayed.

  Saxo :(
If it's broken the clear coat like you said it has then it's going to need a bodyshop to correct it. They will probally end up spraying the whole roof panel. I can't see it costing that much though, it's a pretty basic panel to do on most cars.

Just make sure the little buggers pay for it.

Can you get me any pics Cat171?

I managed to almost completely remove a nasty scratch from a Range Rover HSE Sport the other weekend with only wet sanding and machine polishing

I thought the rule of thumb was if you can feel it with your nail, its too deep. It can be improved on, but too much paint may be removed?

If your nail catches then the scratch has probably gone back to the bare metal surface or primer at least, e.g. there is no paint there, so polishing it won't really achieve much except for improving the area around the scratch.

I got a little scratch last week that I was able to perform a very satisfactory repair on. To do this I:

Polished the surface around the scratch so it was nice and clean.
Touched up using paint with cocktail stick.
Applied clearcoat.
Sanded using 3m wet/dry paper left to soak overnight in soapy solution.
Polished over area with PC to restore area as sanding leaves some horrible looking fine scratches.
