Definitive 20VT conversion topic? Up to date?

Car  Clio 172,Golf VR6
Hi guys. I was wondering if it may be doable for me, but searching for threads on here, its either unanswered questions, or topics with minimal info. Also the usual 2009 post saying "nah"

So it got me wondering: anyone can chime in and do a comprehensive list of the parts, and the modifications, needed to be done, to shove a 20vt vag in a Clio? In 2025 terms and possibilities!
I'm the first one interessed, and maybe could be a sticky topic?

I think there are a few people on the Facebook groups that have done them. I've definitely seen the swap mentioned a couple of times recently.

On the forum I can only recall one being done.

The only non Renault engine I’d be fitting would be a Z20LET simply because they look pretty and sound amazing despite vent terrible in every other way.

K20 is the sensible person choice of non-Renault engine.

It’s easy enough to fit anything provided it goes in the hole, it all just depends on the standard you want. Standalone management with matching dash clocks, weld up a few engine mounts, run an exhaust somewhere, get some shafts made and away you go.

20vt has been done loads of times. As above, custom engine mounts, shafts, exhaust, wiring/ecu, hoses, fuel system etc. Budget 10k if you cant fabricate stuff yourself.

Wouldnt bother personally if you cant do the work yourself.

There has been one at the last couple of CS Festivals and it goes very well indeed. Also a lad that does the conversion on FB, he also has a YouTube channel D7R race fab is his company. I’d reach out to him, he got it working with the standard Clio clocks as well I believe!

Ecumaster black, maxxecu and link from memory will all talk to the clio 2 canbus nicely if you want oem dash to work properly, with all the good features of a modern standalone ecu.

Full car just appeared on FB. Cheaper recitifying a done one than building!
