Dent in boot door...

Car  1.6 Ford Focus
This was there when I bought it... I was suspicious about it when I saw the original advert but passed it off as a reflection on the picture. When I bought the car the garage put a GB sticker over the dent and I never noticed it until I got home.

Not a big issue as the car itself is immaculate but is there a way to fix this? it's only a small dent that probably goes into the boot door about 1.5cm. Thing is an inch of the paintwork in the dent has come off so you can see metal bodywork.

You can see what I mean in the red circle in the attached picture.

If a new boot door came along in the right colour for a cheap enough price I would grab that.

Take it back to the garage and explain the situation? Other wise you'll have to see if you can get some one to pull the dent out, and touch up the paint where it's been taken off.

cheaper to buy a new bootlid. dent out and chip painted will cost at least 100 squid and bootlids are around 50 on ebay. just keep your eyes peeled!

^ Yep.

to the OP, How long have you had the car ?? At the end of the day it's pretty sneaky of them to do that, but I know places who do exactly that.

maybe get urself a nice phase 2 bootlid? plus a cup spoiler and rear lights while ur there lol?
tbh, depends how confident u r. if you can get one in the same colour, fittings easy. if not, yea, the price of a full paint job u may as well just get the dent removed and chip done. or if your brave, take it back and have a go at them!!!

I bought it in the beginning of June, it is actually my first car.

The garage I bought it from is sort of a privately owned garage, it was listed on autotrader and they have a website as any traders would but its just a small family run garage living on an old farm with a small scrap yard, old American lorries and a hanger with about 7 or 8 cars for sale.

Funny how these things work out, I actually got home as well to find that the remote central locking key didn't work... luckily my dad works in the electronics business and fixed it.

I did think about that actually... wouldn't it look rather odd with a ph1 front and ph2 rear? Again there's the colour issue again though...

I plan to add a different spoiler and change the lights in any case.

there's a couple on here with ph2 rear boot lids, i thought about it but welded up the renault badge holes instead. it's quite common to transplant ph2 stuff, 172 rear bumper, clear repeaters, rear lights, spoiler, side strips. if you can get the paint done cheap or do it yourself, really smartens up a ph1.

I'd take it back to the garage and have a go, they obviously put the sticker on to cover up the damage before you bought it.

Sorry, late reply on this thread.

If a ph2 boot fits then I will go for that, is there any way of finding out the paint colour number so I can get the colour exact?

That has crossed my mind... Especially as I do need to go back there and pick up the service history, that for some odd reason, the previous owner still had and to ask why there is only 1 key.
