PMSL.

Impossible to do either without removing the belts.

He probably means that he'll re-use the belts, which is a no-no.

lol it was the specialist in newcastle who said that lol

he said he had a technique to doing it without removing belts

Please call him and ask for a step-by-step guide.

Make notes.

It's like me saying I could take my socks off without removing my shoes.

  Nothing at the mo :(
Like mr bean putting on his swimming pants without actually taking of his trousers.....

oh no wait..

Well thats also what he said to me last week when e did my belts and noticed when he removed the waterpump it had the numbers scratched off so it must off allready been replaced, i asked him if the belt had been replaced previously and he said no...i asked himnif it is possible to remove the waterpump without taking the belt off and he said it is but its hard and ther isnt much space but is possible
I had both belts and dephaser and water pump replaced last week

What did he say about mine mate?
Im really not sure, all i can say is he is very genuine and knows what hes doing...like i said he told me my water pump had allready been replaced and i asked if that meant the belts had also been replaced, and he said he didnt think they had and that they belt doesnt need to be removed when doing the water pump

Mmm seems strange then if hes saying he can do something that everyone on here says he shouldnt be doing, i would give him a ring and say what uve been told and see what he says mate, would be interesting to see what he says...
He knows im a member on here and mentioned a lotnof things off the forum to him

It's not that he shouldn't change the dephaser without removing the belts- it's a physical impossibility.

You can renew the water pump without removing the cambelt but the Aux belt has to come off. The cam belt has to come off when you renew the dephaser though.
