i know he locked of the cams by taking out rear caps as i call them, and he locked the cams off, but iv later seen they do a mot1801 lock kit for 2 pulleys , not 100% but i dont think hes got one of these, so dunno whether that would help you, if cam timing was out would that not damage anything else such as valves , im not mechanic just know that if thats happened im gonna need to remortgage lol

is it possible to put the depahser in wrong place but the car still run, coz mine been replaced but doesnt seem to come on cam as well as it did. where should the notch be when the cams are locked.

you need the tools to check

and L33 you can put the dephaser on in any orientation, doesn't matter, sounds like your timing is out too

lock the crank with the pin (easy to **** up) so always check the marks at the box end to confirm its locked properly

then insert the horse shoe into the end of the cams, should slot in with a tiny wiggle (and i mean tiny!)

could do with an f4r specialist in cornwall or devon to check it out and repair for me , if anyone knows anyone in the area would be appreciated as i have no real mechanic skills , change the oil thats bout it for me

will get the guy to do this , whats likely damage to the engine if the cams are out

Your not alone mate with botched belt jobs on clios, 99% of the time your local mechanic will not have the slighest clue on how to change a belt on a clio never mind have the correct timing tools, hope you get it sorted soon

he changed the belt fine 3 months ago using cam locks then the dephaser pulley was noisy so he changed that now the problems have started so i take me hat off to him for doing belt right in the first place

Surely if he did the cambelt fine with the right tools then the same procedure is used to change the dephaser so that should have been done correctly?

really wish i knew what has gone on but dont think he used the lockers for the dephaser and other pulley so whether thats whats gone wrong i dont know , but i want my pocket rocket fixed, been off the road for last 4 weeks, just dont wanna pay the rip off merchants known as renault to do it , they r expensive this way anyhow
